Understanding lens blur

Image blur (bokeh) is one of the important elements in photography as it brings artistic mood to image. We understand several elements affect bokeh: Subject and background distance, Focal length and aperture. The quality of bokeh is determined by lens optics and lens construction, taking a same subject by tele lens and wide angle lens will also give different types bokeh. Normally wide angle lens will give relatively clear background even wide aperture is used; while tele lens will give more blurry and unclear background. Bearing in mind that focal length also determine the relationship between foreground and background.
